Collaboration, Empathy and Strategic Problem Solving
Steven Baker is an architect, visionary, and community advocate running for Justice of the Peace in Benton County District 5. Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, he’s lived in Bentonville for 10 years, moving to Northwest Arkansas to start his architectural career. In his work as an architect, he leads an innovative team of designers reimagining restaurant and retail spaces for clients across the country. He will bring his skills of collaboration, empathy and strategic problem solving to county government.
Steven’s leadership skills extend to his community involvement and advocacy. He serves on the Bentonville Public Art Advisory Committee, is Chair of the Board of Directors for the Ozark Mission Project, and previously served as the American Institute of Architects Northwest Arkansas Section Chair. In 2022, Steven graduated from Leadership Benton County (LBC). LBC taught Steven that here in Benton County we do many things well, but we still have a long way to go to ensure our community supports every resident’s success. That’s why he decided to run for office.
Steven wants to align Benton County’s investments with its values. Values like putting people first and empowering them to make the choices that are best for themselves and their families. Benton County must fund programs and institutions that help residents thrive so that all residents can succeed.
Outside of work and community advocacy, Steven enjoys checking out the local art scene, having a good meal around town, soaking up some sun on Beaver Lake, and spending time outdoors with friends
