Building a Better Benton County
Criminal Justice Reform
Connecting residents to community resources and support will improve their lives far more than expanding the jail. Improving pre-trial services, increasing funding for recovery and veteran count, and minimizing red tape and process issues lessens the need for jail expansion. County funds should be spent on Benton County so its residents have the freedom to live full and healthy lives in a safe community–no exceptions–without raising taxes to support a jail expansion.
Infrastructure
Northwest Arkansas is growing so fast that we can barely keep up. Imagine if all of us had the freedom to get where we need to go and easily access basic services, including internet, roads providing connections between Benton County cities, adequate water and sewer structures, and public transit. A long-term strategic plan, including funds for improvements, is critical to make this dream a reality. Investing in infrastructure has a positive effect on economic growth and employment.
Benton County needs diligent planning and continued development of our infrastructure to support the unprecedented growth in our region.
Family Well-Being
No matter the background, faith, or color, most people in Benton County work hard for their families. But as their work has made the county prosper, the current Quorum Court members have rigged the rules to redirect resources from our communities to their pet projects. Now they stir up fears based on what we look like or where we come from to focus on expanding the jail rather than using our tax dollars to deliver the programs, schools, and affordable housing all Benton County families need. Steven will demand our lawmakers rewrite the rules so nothing stands in the way of us providing a great life for the families of Benton County.
